Why do I teach (physics)?

Had my first official day today at Mentor/New Teacher training. One thing we discussed was who we were as a teacher. This made me think about this year’s AAPT High School Teachers Ed Camp which had a great talk by Dr. Eugenia Etkina; what resonated most with me is when she said “[teaching] Physics is a tool for a better world “.  Using physics as the tool to help students learn to problem solve, work together, and stretch themselves beyond their (intellectual) comfort zone, are all the reasons that I love teaching Physics.
